BBC Wales, Central Square
At BBC Wales’s new Central Square broadcast centre Nick worked on the technical and operational testing of the TV Studios. Each studio Gallery can be flexibly assigned to work with different studio floor spaces. Facilities included AR, VR, Graphics, robotic cameras and Mosart automation. The studios use SMPTE 2110 and integrated with other facilities in Europes largest IP broadcast facility.
Facilities also include an OB dock which enables an truck to be driven in to the building to provide an additional gallery for use with the studios.
The Met Office
After successfully bidding to provide the Met Office with a new London studio for presentation of ITV Weather, Nick project managed the building work and installation. Working with the architect, contractors, building manager and systems integrator to ensure that the project was completed on schedule to the exacting MOD standards required by the Met Office.
ITV Millbank
At ITV’s Millbank Studios Nick designed and installed studio facilities to allow seven different regional political programmes to be recorded in the same space on a single day. Multiple plasma screens fed by video servers were used to personalise each programme.
Whilst at ITV Millbank Nick also developed broadcast facilities for a major city bank; after an initial contract to provide a live trading floor camera position, he won additional contracts to provide a multi-camera studio and also robotic cameras provide coverage of the trader’s conference room.
